To our fellow Neighbors,

The FOB Community was born out of needs we saw developing amongst our neighbors. In a world that seems choatic and noisy, it is hard to discern where we might get involved and doubtful as to whether it will make an impact.

Through the FOB Community initiative we have been reminded so clearly that caring for each other, our families and our neighbors is something that is approachable, practical and meaningful. We are so very grateful to call you neighbor and to serve our fellow neighbors along side you.

The FOB Community initiative commenced as a result of COVID-19 and aimed to stand in the gaps for our neighbors who were experiencing hardships. There were many needs and an overwhelming show of community support. Orlando is, to us, not only the City Beautiful, but is also the City Generous.

Included below are a few of the highlights we have experienced over the past 6 months.

  • 2,180.19 paid utility bills
  • 2,063.51 to pay off a car
  • 50 for a bus pass
  • 15,711 for dental work
  • 2,200 for food
  • 2,500 to Grace Medical Home which provides health care to the uninsured in our neighborhood
  • 2,500 to Servant’s Heart which provides food to those in need in our community
  • 2,250 to Pathways to Home who partnered with us to help a handful of homeless families find housing
  • 11,800.69 to pay rent or mortgage assistance
  • 100 for clothes
  • 40 for rides to the doctor
  • Total $41,395.39

In all, we served 36 different families and 40 elderly residents at a nursing home. We accepted 86% of requests for help from our neighbors.

In closing, as we push pause on this initiative until such time that it is needed again, we will never push pause on loving our neighbors well. We want to thank the more than 100 neighbors who linked arms to serve their fellow neighbors. We are humbled by the giving your time and talents that ultimately made this initiative such a success.

We expect there to be future opportunities to serve and will reconvene at that time. In the meantime, be well and know that we are, and will remain, huge fans of yours.
